Welcome from the Principal
Welcome from the Principal
I am delighted to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. A year that begins under special circumstances, brought about by the COVID-19 health crisis. It is a year that will require more than ever close collaboration between the members of our Educational Community. At SEK-Dublin we understand the great responsibility we have to ensure the safety and well-being of all, and we work to provide a positive, student-centred education.
Our goal is to provide the best possible education for your children. Therefore, we are teaching our lessons face-to-face for all educational levels. We are firmly committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of all our students, for which we have developed protocols that allow our students to enjoy the best possible educational experience, providing all the necessary health and safety measures.
At SEK-Dublin we believe that the emotional well-being of students and teachers is the true measure of a healthy school and is key in developing an environment where teaching and learning can take place effectively. This is a key aspect of the International Baccalaureate programmes that we teach at SEK-Dublin, and it enables positive relationships between students and teachers, promotes self-confidence in students, as well as a positive attitude, perseverance and resilience. Due to its importance, this year we have designed a specific programme that allows our staff to better support our students in these aspects. The goal is to foster a culture of empathy and collective help.
This year we completed the implementation of the IB® Diploma Programme, and our first class of students will take their official exams in the May 2021 session. I am convinced that everyone's hard work and effort will pay off with excellent results, and that our students will be able to attend the university of their choice.
We always aspire to be at the forefront of educational innovation, and to provide our students and teachers with the latest technological tools and the most cutting-edge education, which allows us to put technology at the service of the teaching and learning process. That is why this year we began the accreditation process to be recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School.
We are continually reflecting on and reassessing the processes that allow us to continue to improve. This year we are starting on the NEASC accreditation process, with the ACE learning principles, one of the most demanding quality standards certifications for international schools. Obtaining this accreditation will also allow us to grant our students the American High School Diploma.
We are looking forward to the start of another year with a strong commitment to providing our students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for a successful future, both at school and in working life.
